This tale was an interesting one to say the least, an interesting situation doesn’t quite capture the essence of it, but, for now, let me not get ahead of myself. Let us go back in time a bit to when this all started. The plot was a surprise celebration of HIS birthday, typical in that sense. However, although the details of the plans were unknown to him, he made plans of his own for the occasion. His twist was, he will propose to HER. *insert dramatic music*
The plot, now obviously thickens, and only he and I know the truth of his plans. Whilst simultaneously, I also know the full extent of her plans. Who am I? I am the one in the middle privy to the details of HIS and HER plans but not divulging any information to either of them. I am the photographer and visual story teller, trusted and tasked with the responsibility to capture the moments as they unfold and preserving these memories to enjoy for their lifetime.
The events of the day was a success, there were smiles, cake, bended knees and shocks to fill the room, and we all celebrated the occasion. However this is merely the background to this Tale of “He Said, She Said”, as now, my focus is on what comes after. It is now time for, THE FORMAL ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SESSION, where the essence of HIS BIRTHDAY & PROPOSAL and HER SURPRISE & ACCEPTANCE would be preserved and presented through my lens.
My Creative Direction was based on setting the respective stages, but I allowed the lovely couple to star in their roles as only they could. So, as they interacted, I waited. Then it happened, I was delighted and ready for when the genuine moments unfolded, and so they did…because
Then ….
Whatever they said, I endorse for the results were beautiful. I now look at the pleasant irony, for before “he said” & “she said” things to me in an effort to keep the other out of the loop, whilst I needed to be in the know to anticipate and effectively capture candid moments. Now this time, I was understandably out of the loop, taking a journalistic approach to the intimate candid moments they were sharing and also capturing the essence of the original celebration.
